If you’ve run in previous versions of the Hurricane, you’ll already know it’s Saucony’s answer to the max-cushioned stability shoe.

I've been recommending the Hurricane 24, for the past year to those looking to start running, or anyone in need of a highly versatile, well cushioned yet stable running shoe for daily training miles.

With the Hurricane 25, they’ve kept that core identity intact but reworked just about everything else to deliver a much more refined ride.

And yes, I'm going to continue recommending these to runners looking for more of the same as they perform so well in so many areas of daily training.

I’ve been testing this update across a mix of recovery miles and steady daily runs, and there are some definite improvements — especially in how it feels underfoot and how it guides your stride. Here’s what’s new, and how it actually performs.

Sizing and fit

The Hurricane 25 fits true to size for me, with a secure heel and midfoot hold.

The engineered mesh upper feels more forgiving than the previous version, and wraps the foot naturally without feeling restrictive - but I also loved the fit of the previous version.

The toe box is generous enough for daily training comfort, though the upper can run a little warm on hot days due to the lack of breathability.

If you're after something plush and supportive for longer sessions or recovery runs, this fit works really well. Some more images of the plush fit of the upper:

Performance review

From the first step-in, it’s clear Saucony have dialed up the comfort in the Hurricane 25, which is impressive because version 24 was already super soft and comforting.

The new SRS sockliner / insole is a small but noticeable upgrade as it softens the underfoot feel and makes this version feel more premium than the 24, somehow.

PWRRUN PB and PWRRUN dual density midsole foam

The dual-foam midsole setup, a combination of PWRRUN PB and PWRRUN, is where the Hurricane 25 really starts to shine because the ride is incredible for most daily training runs.

The midsole also performs very well across the entire length, so whether you land on your heel, or forefoot, the Hurricane 25 absorbs the shock, and provides a good amount of response, or rebound back.

It’s the same materials on paper as the last version, but in practice, the feel is livelier and a little better balanced.

I’m getting more bounce with each step now, but still with that stable base that gives me confidence during longer runs when form gets a bit looser.

What’s changed here is the geometry and how the shoe guides your movement.

Saucony’s redesigned CenterPath Technology doesn’t push you around or feel overly corrective (which can often be a bad thing).

Instead, it gently nudges your gait to line up, in a way that feels more intuitive, rather than forcefully corrective. I’ve noticed transitions feel smoother and more fluid, especially when my legs get tired towards the end of a run.

XT-900 carbon rubber outsole
XT-900 carbon rubber outsole

The outsole has seen an upgrade, too. The new XT-900 carbon rubber gives much better grip and has a more flexible feel underfoot.

One of my complaints with the Hurricane 24 was that the outsole had too much exposed foam, which led to durability taking a hit. The Hurricane 25 fixes this substantially, although there's not full coverage rubber compound.

Another complaint of the previous version was it's weight but it has been reduced considerably, making the ride feel a bit more snappy.

The engineered mesh upper is softer and has a more comfortable wrap around the foot but it's still not very breathable — on warmer days, it does trap some heat, but on cooler days, it’s ideal.

Visually, it’s still got that bulky look, but the ride itself is surprisingly light and smooth for how much shoe you’re getting.

My verdict

The Saucony Hurricane 25 is a solid upgrade. Saucony took the strong framework of the 24 and smoothed out most of what few rough edges it had.

It’s now softer, bouncier, and transitions more fluidly — all without sacrificing the stability that makes it a great daily trainer for those who need support.

The small drawbacks (like breathability and some exposed foam underfoot) are still there, but they shouldn't be deal breakers because overall it's an awesome daily trainer.

If you’re after a reliable, max-cushioned stability shoe that feels comforting and forgiving, the Hurricane 25 is well worth buying - you won't be disappointed.
